#090 - Necklace Plus Minus + Qu'hier - Que demain - GOLD
Aujourd’hui + Qu’hier − Que demain = Today + Yesterday − Tomorrow
Today I love you more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.
Small solid 14ct Gold pendant on a long solid Sterling Silver ballchain. If you like the ballchain shorter, just cut it to your wished length. The embossing form was hand engraved in 1908 in Pforzheim, Germany.
The inscription "Aujourd’hui + Qu’Hier - Que Demain" refers to the poem "L'éternelle chanson" from 1889 of the French poet Rosemonde Gérard. Rosemonde Gérard’s husband, Edmund, is the author of Cyrano de Bergerac.
It is the abbreviation of the line: “Car, vois-tu, chaque jour je t’aime davantage, Aujourd’hui plus qu’hier et bien moins que demain - Because you see, every day I love you more, today more than yesterday and less than tomorrow.“
The jeweler Alphonse Augis used the metaphor for everlasting love as the inscription for a medallion he created in 1907 which became very popular and was called “French coin of love“.
